The summer of 2024 has officially come to an end. Those three months of warm weather were very vibrant and lively, with a variety of crazes surfing across the internet. From the premiere of Love Island Season 6 to bows covering every surface and new music releases, this summer was a fun one. One of the most notable trends being an album of hyperpop melodies who’s cover inspired the sweep of all bright neon green clothing and accessories off the racks.
Following Charli XCX’s album release on June 7, “Brat Green” covered all social media platforms during the summer as her songs climbed up the charts. Due to its popularity, many claimed 2024’s summer to be “Brat Summer”, playing off of rapper Megan Thee Stallion’s phrase, “Hot Girl Summer”, which was trending back in 2019. Brat brought a lot of attention to Charli’s discography and hyperpop music in general. “Apple” on the album can be heard frequently when scrolling through TikTok after influencer Kelley Heyer created a dance to the song, which now has over 1.7 million uses on the app. Well-loved Roblox fashion game, Dress To Impress, collaborated with Charli XCX and her team to allow players to wear Brat merchandise and outfits featured in the album’s music videos. The album’s success curated a vibe of its own and a large range of the trends during the summer. It’s safe to say Brat went out with a bang!
Now that “Brat Summer” is over, what’s going to rule the fall?
As the leaves change, so too will the trends that define this season. Fall has it staples that are sported every year; flannels, Uggs, sweaters, tall boots, and so forth. Many are wondering what the fall equivalent of the summer’s Brat renaissance is going to be. There are a few trends that are already leading us strong into the new season, some of them being leopard/cheetah print everything, Sabrina Carpenter’s new album Short n’ Sweet, and Netflix’s Monsters. However, there is much more that is predicted to rise in popularity within the next couple of months.
A few panthers were asked what they think is going to be all the rage this upcoming autumn and the responses varied. “I think that Doc Martens are going to be seen more in the fall, specifically their loafers. As for music, I think that Steve Lacy is going to be played a lot and hopefully A$AP Rocky releases his new album, Don’t Be Dumb.” said junior Brody Ellis. “The new Outer Banks season is coming out this October and November so I think that the beachy-summer aesthetic is going to carry into the fall time this year. The characters wear cute outfits in the show and I think that their styles are going to be trending when the new season comes out!” junior Ainsley Myers predicted.
Whether you’re embracing timeless classics or experimenting with bold new styles, this fall promises a trend for everyone. Stay tuned as the season unfolds and keep an eye on these predictions as they pave the way for what’s next.
