Just one month into the spring season, the Cypress Lake Boys’ Lacrosse team is already ranked second in the district. This incredible 6-1 record comes after many seasons of rebuilding the Panther Lacrosse team. This season Cypress Lake welcomed their new head coach Dante Egan, who previously acted as their assistant coach under Bruce DeKoff.
Mar. 7 the Panthers secured their most recent win over the Palmetto Ridge Bears with a score of 8-3. The goals during this game were scored by Kaeden Musich, Daniel Johnson, Kyler Carter, Tyler Lloyd, and Zayne Kimpland. Captain and leading-scorer Daniel Johnson said “We can play even better than how we played that night…we’ve grown a lot as a team and we all have more experience and chemistry with each other.”
Up next the Cypress Lake Boys’ Lacrosse team will take on Riverdale at home. The Panthers previously defeated the Raiders in a close 5-3 game, but are sure to improve their score on Mar. 13. Gus Lessinger expressed his excitement about the game, saying, “I’m looking forward to making up for the mistakes we made against Riverdale a few weeks ago, it was too close a game and we all have some personal things to get back on.” Lessinger continued by saying, “Obviously, our goal is to win districts.” The Panthers’ run thus far in the season is incredibly impressive, and the team is looking forward to the rest of their season.
