The Cypress Lake Dance department has had quite a few events already this year and even more are yet to come!
On March 27th, a few of the dancers who are a part of the Newton’s Law Dance company had the opportunity to attend the All-County class, which was held at North Fort Myers High School. Dancers from all the schools of Lee County were able to attend and join together to take a master class. Each school had its piece that they were to perform after the class, and of course, later that night at 7 p.m. for anyone who attended the performance.
Then, a few days later on March 29th, an assessment was held at CLHS where all neighboring schools were welcomed to showcase dance exercises and combinations to be assessed by judges. CLHS dancers spent weeks learning and perfecting the combinations. Once shown, every school received feedback on anything they did correctly or outstanding and tips on how to improve.
The next big event for the dance department will be the New Visions Concert, held at the Cypress Auditorium on April 15th and 16th at 7 p.m. New Visions is unique because the performances are choreographed by the students themselves. Later in April will be the Spring Dance Concert, on April 29th and 30th at 7p.m. There audiences will see some of the Newton’s Law pieces, class pieces, as well as some performances from the New Visions concert, if adjudicated.
