Roughly two-thirds of the way through their fall season, the Panther volleyball team is continuing to play hard and improve their game.
This year the team is led by a new head coach, Samuel Laracuente. Daniela Sosa (11th grade) thinks that having a new coach after already building a relationship with former Coach Cole is sometimes challenging but a welcome change, altering the overall team dynamic for the better. Maria Torres (12th grade) also said that she believes the new coaching staff has made the team “more involved and more encouraged.”
The Panthers are a young team, with many of their experienced athletes graduating last year. They have faced some challenges adapting, but the Lady Panthers continue to adjust their game and take these changes in stride. They are currently 3-9, but many players expressed excitement about the incoming talent and can’t wait to see what the current freshmen bring to Cypress. Avery Gulotta, the only freshman on varsity, said that during her time at CLHS her main goal is to continue to improve not only her own game, but the team as a whole.
The seniors on the team are making the most of their final season with Panther volleyball. Senior McKenna Thompson said her favorite memories have been when the team would make a good play and celebrate together. She continued to say that the team has helped her gain a sense of discipline and carry a more positive mindset.
With only two home games left in the regular season, the Panther volleyball team hopes to see YOU in the stands supporting them. Panther Pack Secretary Ainsley Myers stated that her favorite part of attending the volleyball games is “finally being able to experience a game from the student section instead of cheering on the sidelines, and all of the hype that comes with that.”
Myers urges people to come and experience this contagious energy for themselves, and hopes to pack the stands at the upcoming games. Myers says to find any further information on game details and themes to follow both the volleyball team and Panther Pack on Instagram (@cypresslakevolleyball and @clhspantherpack, respectively).
