The Cypress Lake Lady Panthers gave praise to three seniors, McKenna Thompson, Kyra Bienfang, and Maria Torres Oct. 1 in the Panther Pit. All three seniors walked out onto the court with supporting family members and roaring cheers from the crowd.
The Panthers started the game strong, leading for most of the first set, with amazing performances from Brigitte Maillakakis, a junior, as well as Exa Zavoico and Avery Gulotta, two freshmen on the varsity squad who showed serious potential in their serving and hitting abilities. Maillakakis showed the Bull Sharks front row who was boss with countless blocks rally after rally.
Unfortunately the win ultimately went to the Bull Sharks in a 3-0 final score, each set was nail-bitingly close, with the Panthers leading the first set ended 21-17 at one point. The Lee County Athletic Conference (LCAC) tournament begins Monday, October 7. The Panthers will host South Fort Myers in the first round.
