The spring semester has just begun and with it comes a wide variety of spring sports. Tryouts are opening for everything ranging from weightlifting to lacrosse and coaches are calling for students to come give their sport a shot.
Baseball Tryouts begin in the week of Jan. 13, under the leadership of Coach Beisner the Panther baseball team went 12-15 last season and are only looking to improve their performance with new talent.
The Beach Volleyball team is holding tryouts during the week of Feb. 3 for its second season since being begun here at Cypress. Head coach Jason Larkin is looking to pad his roster after losing a number of talented seniors last year. Come to tryouts beginning on Jan. 27
Flag football, led by Coach Mack, also a newly established team was unable to put a win on the board last season and are looking for some strong athletes regardless of their experience with football.
Both girls and boys lacrosse will be holding tryouts following the day off school Jan. 20. Both teams were recently reinstated as official programs at Cypress Lake and have gotten off to a decent start, with close games and a few wins in the end of the season last year the teams are only set to improve.
The Softball team will also be trying out in the week of Jan. 20 and head Coach Mendes was able to win nine games last season and are excited to welcome new talent in place of the graduated seniors of last year.
Tryouts for the boys and girls tennis team open after Jan. 13, while the team didn’t lose many players to the curse of graduation there are always openings for a talented player.
On Jan. 20 the Track and Field team will be holding their tryouts. Come out and showcase your skills in a number of different events from the shot put to the 100 meter sprint.
The Boys Weightlifting team has also opened their season. Tryouts began on Jan. 6 but the team is always looking to add another member and is a great place to build your strength.
