The Excitement was palpable as our group gathered at 7:30 in the morning, ready to embark on our long-awaited trip to Busch gardens. As backpacks were full, snacks in hand, and a playlist of road trip songs, each of the two groups climbed into their travel buses, buzzing with energy. Our chaperones Mr. Knudsen and Mrs. Knudsen were truly filled with as much energy as the attendees! And one of our very own teachers Ms. Shannon Knudsen made sure everyone was accounted for before we hit the road.
The drive up was filled with chatter, laughing and more debate over which ride to tackle first. While we made it halfway up there, we stopped at a gas station as either a restroom stop or for snacks. However, across the way was an enticing McDonalds which everyone came to a collective agreement that it was the preferred option. After the small fortune at the most known fast-food restaurant in the world we got back into the buses!
As we arrived and stepped off the buses, the sight of the towering roller coasters and the distant screams sent a thrill through the group. “Alright, stick together, and let’s have fun” Ms. Knudsen reminded us, though Mr. Knudsen seemed just as eager as we were to jump on the rides.
Our first stop was Cobra’s curse. a towering coaster that sent us flying down steep drops and soaring through the air. After the first ride our hearts were pounding faster than the speed of light! We felt lightheaded but we knew we could do anything after this first ride.
After Cobra’s curse we visited Montu. Montu was the one we weren’t prepared for! The roller coaster truly was built for people with strong stomachs. The ride up was so high that we could see the park and more. After making it to the very top it just DROPPED. We were flipped upside down and left and right and I could’ve sworn we got whiplash after we got off. After Montu we all decided to ride it a second time!! After waiting less than 10 mins for the next turn, it went even faster. The ride was so fast I believed we were going to get launched off the ride.
After conquering Montu, we decided just some nice walking around the park was going to do for a bit. We saw elephants, hyenas, fish, chimps, and gorillas! Busch gardens truly has it all when it comes to excitement and relaxing at the same time. After looking at the animals we were ready for lunch.
Our first meal was lunch which we all met up at Dragon fire grill & Pub. During the trip we had paid for an all-day meal pass which allowed you to get any amount of food and drinks, also they had different cultural cuisines! After eating everything off our own plates, we had to ask each other if any of us had any food left, which of course was a no. After Our first main meal of the day we eyed the go karts known as, Ubanga-banga bumper cars.
The bumper cars was actually the line we had to wait in the longest. Everyone got to get into their carts which were 2 per person. Let me tell you, I’m really glad some people aren’t able to be drivers yet. The point is to crash into people however, my partner Katherine was able to avoid these maniacs like the plague, and I was laughing while our friends were being constantly rammed into.
Our Last ride of the day was the dreaded FALCON’S FURY. Some of us refused to get on the ride and the people who did were in for a lifetime trauma story. As we got to the front of the line, we heard the screams from 2,000 feet up in the air which is crazy!! The ride slowly takes you up then it pushes you out and pulls you back in and makes you look down for a good minuet. then when you least expect it, you are dropped! Our screams, I’m sure could be heard from miles. It was almost like a dream where you are falling but this time you do have a safety net. However, after our first time the ride was shut down due to issues with the ride. We claimed to have avoided death, and I want to stick with that.
Our Last Meal of the Day/Dinner was Oasis Pizza. Their pizza was really something else. Super cheesy, super pizzaey? But yes, we enjoyed the meal where Luigi was excited due to it being an Italian restaurant. After that we got into the buses and headed home.
The car ride home was mainly a quiet one due to everyone being tired out from all the craziness we endured. Once we made it back to school, we were all glad to have made it back okay and never have to worry about being off our feet for the good rest of our lives hopefully ever again.
