Homecoming week holds many highly anticipated events and traditions for our Panthers. A few of them are hallway decorating, dress-up days, and making and representing their class with class banners. With these events, there comes competitions between the classes. This week will become very competitive for the students and there was an exciting thrill in the air leading up to the end of the week, where on the Friday of homecoming week, there is a pep rally where all of the results for the competitions are revealed.
Over the course of the week, administrators decide which class they think outshowed the others for each aspect of each event. Even though every class puts in so much work and effort, there always has to be a winner. This year’s results are as follows:
Best Class Banner: Juniors
Dress Up Day Participation: Juniors
Best Hallway Decoration: Seniors
Our Panthers show an overflowing amount of school spirit at pep rallies, so it’s always a hard decision for our administration to pick which class receives the spirit stick. On this occasion after a lot of consideration, the administrators awarded the senior class with the spirit stick! This is always very controversial between classes because everyone feels as if their class was more spirited, which adds a competitive aspect to it.
During the homecoming pep rally, Cypress has an annual tug of war competition among the students and staff. The students go against each other and the winning class competes against a team full of different Cypress staff members. This year, the Senior beat out the rest of the classes, and went up against the staff, but the staff walked away with the win.
But the excitement still wasn’t over. That evening, during the homecoming football game, the homecoming court members are announced and walk across the football field, and the homecoming King and Queen are announced. For the 2025-2026 school year, Taija Large was crowned queen and Quinn McDonald was crowned king!
Senior Quinn McDonald, was elected homecoming king for his senior class. “I felt such a great honor to win, but I was very surprised and was not expecting to win but am extremely excited that I did!”
