The annual winter band concert was held on Tuesday Dec. 1, and lit up the school auditorium with a lively mix of tradition, teamwork, and unexpected fun. Under the direction of Randy Webb and Delia Smith, the ensembles took the stage to perform a diverse setlist that kept the audience cheering throughout the evening.
The concert opened with “Celebrate the State” followed by “Luna.” The momentum continued with one of the crowd favorites, the whimsical and energetic “The Great Rubber Chicken Gala” which earned nearly as many laughs as it did applause.
Drum major Delia Smith said the performance felt especially meaningful this year. “This was an amazing concert and I’m so glad I got to be a part of this as your drum major,” she shared after the show.
For the grand finale, all three groups – ensemble, wind and jazz band – combined to perform the powerful piece “Sky War.” The entire band department filled the stage, creating a bold wall of sound that showcased the strength of the program.
Trumpet player Willa Benton, reflected on the moments saying, “I love being able to play with everyone.” Clarinet player Madelyn Stewart agreed, adding, “We sounded amazing together, but it was very loud.”
The winter band concert not only highlighted the musicians dedication but also celebrated the spirit of collaboration. With such an exciting start to the season, students and families alike are already looking forward to what the band will bring in the upcoming semester.
