Key Club is a student-led service organization dedicated to interacting with local communities, helping in places where assistance is needed. This club presents the opportunity for students to volunteer in and plan service projects while developing leadership skills, build character, and improve academic achievement.
After recently helping out at the Trunk or Treat event at Lexington Middle School by donating candy and decorations, Key Club is heading into their next projects. Jamaica was recently devastated by Hurricane Melissa, a category five hurricane, leaving many without homes, food, or basic necessities. In response, the Key Club launched the Disaster Relief Drive for Jamaica. The club is raising resources and looking for donations to support relief efforts, including bottled water, non-perishables, clothing, and hygiene products. The club is also selling Thanksgiving candy grams during lunch for $1 with the goal to raise money to fund future community service projects, such as a planned fundraiser to feed the homeless.
The Key Club meets on the first Monday of every month. Meetings take place in W263 and anyone interested can join.
