On October 22, the annual Homecoming Powder Puff and Buff Puff games commenced. The flag football and volleyball games pit the classes against each other as the face off to compete for the championship title.
The seniors won the flag football game with a final score of 12-6, but not without a tough fight from the juniors. Seniors scored early with a touchdown on their first possession, but then the junior defense, coached by Mason Kurtz, didn’t allow another score until the final minutes of the second half. The juniors were able to get on the board with a touchdown from Claire Martin, but in the final minutes of the second half the seniors scored again and held off a final junior push to secure the win. Senior Hailey Hartley said the win felt really good. “We were worried because practice didn’t go so well, so we are super happy about the win,” said Hartley.
In the volleyball game, the seniors beat the combined freshman and sophomore team with a score of 25-21. The second game, juniors versus the freshmen and sophomores, was a close fight, but the juniors won, setting up a final showdown between the seniors and juniors. It was a close fight, but ultimately the seniors won the final game, becoming buff puff champions for 2025.
