It is officially awards season and the 67th Annual Grammy Awards are just a few weeks away. 2024 was an incredible year for music and there are many deserving nominees who are being recognized for their hard work in the industry. On Feb. 1, the world is going to see who will win each category. But before then, who does Cypress Lake predict will win in the “big four” Grammy categories?
Album of the Year
Out of the 52 respondents, 34.6 percent predicted that Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet will win Album of the Year. The second most predicted winner was Billie Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft, with a vote of 26.9 percent. Charli XCX’s Brat, Chappell Roan’s The Rise And Fall of a Midwest Princess, and Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department all tied with 9.6 percent. There were two votes each for Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter and André 3000’s New Blue Sun. Last but not least, there was one vote for Jacob Collier’s Djesse Vol. 4.
Best New Artist
For Best New Artist, Chappell Roan was the most predicted to win, with a vote of 44.2 percent. Sabrina Carpenter was a close contender with 34.6 percent of the votes. In third, Doechii was chosen by 11.5 percent of voters. There were two votes for Benson Boone. Finally, there was one vote each for Raye, Shaboozey, and Teddy Swims.
Song of the Year
The nomination most predicted to win was “Die With A Smile” by Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga, achieving 40.4 percent of the votes. “Not Like Us” by Kendrick Lamar was the next runner-up with a vote of 19.2 percent. Next in line with a vote of 13.5 percent was “Please Please Please” by Sabrina Carpenter. “Birds of a Feather” by Billie Eilish was predicted by 9.6 percent of the voters. With four votes was “Good Luck, Babe!” by Chappell Roan. “Fortnight” by Taylor Swift and Post Malone had three votes and “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” by Shaboozey had two votes.
Record of the Year
Lastly, “Birds of a Feather” by Billie Eilish was the most predicted nomination for Record of the Year with a vote of 44.2 percent. The second leading nomination with 21.2 percent was “Not Like Us” by Kendrick Lamar. 17.3 percent predicted that “Fortnight” by Taylor Swift and Post Malone will win. “360” by Charli XCX was predicted by 9.6 percent of the voters. “Now and Then” by The Beatles was predicted by 7.7 percent of the voters.
While these predictions provide just a glimpse into Cypress Lake’s opinions, the true winners will be revealed soon on music’s biggest night. Until then, the excitement and anticipation continues to build, making this year’s Grammys one to watch.
